Female Spiritual Retreat

Hey, just to let you single women know that during the month of April there will be a special retreat going on where you can become more drowned into the light of Christianity.  Ever wonder how a Christian nun behaves, or what she does in her daily life, check out with the Sister of Saint Joseph, Toronto.  They are offering a special retreat for single women on April 27 & 29 and also on May 25 & 27.  If you are interested please call 416.927.0720, or email dschweitzer@csj-to.ca, for further questions.

Do you also know that there are differences between a nun and a sister?
They both take vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience.  But a nun, has a another vow which is, a vow of enclosure (which means they live in a monastery, and pray for the world.  They are isolated from society).  A sister can be a married person, and have kids.  They spend more time caring for the society and preaching gospel to the community.

So, if you are already married and have kid or planning to have a family, please don't shy away from the "Christian Sisterhood".  You can still contribute to the religious life and to the community at the same time. Please speak with your church or contact the number listed above.

Astronomy

Astronomy and Religion

Earth + planets (pluto, mercury etc) surrounding  one star (sun)-------> solar system.

millions of stars-------> galaxy (ours is milky way galaxy).  One star (ours sun) can have a few planets.

One mono galaxy combine with another mono galaxy leads to ------> binary galaxy.
One mono galaxy combine with 2 mono galaxy leads to------->tertiary galaxy.

There is a Puzzle for you to solve at the bottom of the page. Please read to the bottom and let me know about your feedback.

The Earth as viewed by Satellite in the atmosphere.  At close view, you can see the trees, mountains, oceans and patches of clouds.   At the top of the picture, you can see distant stars in the milky way galaxy.

The Earth and its moon.  Notice the dust (interplanetary dust) surrounding our planet.   Before earth was formed million of years ago, these dusts were floating in space until a strong nuclear fusion occured generating gravity that binds these dusts into a round ball known as planet.

The solar system consists of the sun (star) and all the orbiting planets from Mercury to Pluto.
1 Solar System = 1 Star (Sun) + all orbiting planets.
Not just one round planet was formed, but many planets (including asteroids, comets etc) were formed by the same method mentioned above.  Because the sun (star) has a much larger gravity, all the planets orbit around the sun.  99% of the weight of the solar system is located in the sun and the other 1% comes from all the planets from mercury to pluto.
1 Galaxy ( Milky Way Galaxy) = billions of solar system.
1 solar system = 1 star (sun) + all its orbiting planets.
How many stars are there in one galaxy?  (billion of stars)?
In our solar system, 1 sun (star) has 9 orbiting planets.  In our galaxy, billions of stars must have thousands of billions of planets)?
Could there be aliens in these multitudes of planets?
Why can't we see these aliens?

The picture of our milky way spiral galaxy.  Notice how many tiny specks of bright light.  Each speck represents a sun (star).  Each speck of sun has several orbiting planets.  Imagine how many planets in our milky way galaxy?
There is three large galaxies in the picture.  Each galaxy has as many stars (suns) and planets as our very own milky way galaxy.
Just how many galaxies are there in the universe?

If you are still pondering how many galaxies there are in the universe, look at the specks of bright light.
can you count them? Maybe?
Imagine how many stars+planets per light or galaxy.
Imagine how many planets in this picture.
If you think that you can outsmart the top picture, try this one.  When each tiny dot represents one galaxy, how many galaxies can you count?

If you still think that you can count the number of specks of light in the top picture, try to imagine how big our universe is??
How big is our universe?
What you see in the top picture is only a tiny part of the universe. ( the lens area of a powerful telescope.)
Just how further deep can you preceive?
Just what is the maximum height, maximum width of the universe?
Does it have a shape?  An egg shape? a square shape?
Ever wonder what the dark matters between galaxies are?  Are they galactic oceans? Does the galaxies represent islands?
These galactic islands float on space.  You can imagine the density of the spacious dark matter, and each galaxy suspends in them according to their gravity.
How heavy is an average human?  How many humans are on earth?  Why is earth suspended on space? Why is earth not falling down to the bottom of the 'bottomless-ever-expanding universe'?
Why spaceman floats on space? (one tiny human is not as heavy as earth)

Modern astronomy defines universe as no boundary and expanding.

My visit to the St. Clare church.

I made a very special religious pilgrimage to the Poor Clare Church during the month of February 2012 to commemorate the Feast of Mother Colette.  The trip was so special to me, that it left me yearning for another one.  Oh, I just can't wait till the next Feb 7 where I can sing the gospel praises of one of my favourite mother Saint Colette.  The church was filled with her warm, holy presence that lighted the atmosphere into a sphere of Marian energy.  Fresh flowers are offered to the altar, nuns and sisters busy
straining their vocal cords for the perfect pitch.  Oh, what a day?? Did you know that this year is a very special year for all the Poor Clare Monasteries in the world?  It is the 800th Jubilee year since the foundation of the second Franciscan ordered by Mother St. Clare of Assisi and Father St. Francis of Assisi in the year of 1212.  Now, if you are wondering what Assisi means, (it is a city in Italy, the very same country where our current Pope Benedict XVI resides.).
Does the number 1212 mean anything to you??  I would imagine it to be December 12, the very special festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  In Spanish it is pronounced as ' Nuestra SeƱora de Guadalupe' .  The word Guadalupe originates from the Aztec word 'coatlaxopeuh' meaning 'the female that defeats the evil snake.
No only our did Mother Saint Clare of Assisi shared one connection with Virgin Mary apparition, but, she also had another special connection with the Our Lady of Mount Carmel.  Mother Saint Clare was born on July 16' 1194.   Our Lady of Mount Carmel, famously portrayed as Virgin Mary with the child Jesus surrounded by angels handling our scapulars (habits of Virgin Mary) to sinful souls burning in the hell fire.  The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated on July 16.

Saint Francis of Assisi, famously known as the barefoot friar preaching in the streets of Assisi, Italy, where he met and converted the rich Saint Clare.  In the ruined Saint Damiano church, Saint Francis received a vision of Jesus calling ,"Francis, Francis, go and repair My house which, as you can see, is falling into ruins.".  Very very innocently, Saint Francis gathered as many bricks as he could and started plastering the ruined church.  Little did he realized what Jesus meant was to form a new Franciscan order of monks and cloistered nun with Mother Clare in the year of 1212.  What an embarrassment he must have felt thinking that Jesus asked him to plaster the church with bricks.  However, because of his good merit, he received the stigmata. He is also known as the Patronage of animals because of his heroic rescue of a village terrorized by a ferocious wolf.  Using his compassionate energy along with the sign of the cross, he managed to tame the wolf .  He is often associated with the Tao cross.

Melaka 2011

The city of Melaka, Malaysia maintains a proud heritage of Portuguese  culture.

The church of Saint Francis Xavier built in 1843.  Saint Francis  ( actual name Francisco de Jasso y Azpilicueta)  was a Roman Catholic Missionary that traveled the world preaching Christianity.  In the 1540s,  he preached Christianity in Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, etc.

The Christ Church Melaka was founded in 1753 after the Dutch Empire defeated the Portuguese Empire.  The Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824, transferred the Dutch church into the possessions of the East India Company.
